Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Flackbird (formerly SwiftFlac) is a local music player for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It collects nothing.

What Flackbird collects

Nothing. Flackbird does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.

Network access

Flackbird makes no network connections. It has no code that contacts a server, and it works exactly the same with the device in airplane mode. The only web link in the app is the GitHub link in Settings, which opens in your browser when you tap it.

Your music files

Flackbird reads music files from a folder you choose, or from its own Documents folder on iOS and iPadOS. Files are read only to display their tags and cover art and to play them. Your music is never copied off your device, uploaded, or modified.

On macOS, the app stores a security-scoped bookmark so it can reopen the folder you picked without asking again. That bookmark stays on your device.

Siri and Shortcuts

If you use Siri or the Shortcuts app with Flackbird, the names of your folders, albums, and artists are provided to the system on your device so Siri can recognise them in requests such as “Play Blue Hour in Flackbird”. Flackbird itself sends nothing anywhere; how Siri handles requests is covered by Apple’s privacy policy. Siri only works with Flackbird once you turn it on for the app in the Shortcuts app.

What is stored on your device

The following are saved locally, in the app’s own storage, and are removed when you delete the app:

None of this leaves your device, and none of it is accessible to anyone else.

Children

Flackbird is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Changes to this policy

Any changes will be published on this page with an updated date above. Since the app collects nothing, material changes are unlikely.
